MeldOut — the daily tile-rummy endgame puzzle

MeldOut is a free daily puzzle for the classic 106-tile rummy game — numbered tiles 1–13 in four colors, two of each, plus two jokers, the set many families know from Rummikub® and Turkish Okey. Instead of playing a whole game, MeldOut drops you into the moment the whole game builds toward: the table is set, and a perfect one-turn finish exists. Rearrange the sets, play every tile from your rack, and go out.

Every position is a genuine endgame: a deal is played forward until an exact solver proves the rack can be emptied in a single legal turn. The solution is verified before you ever see the puzzle — if you're stuck, the line exists, move by move.

How to play

• Goal — play every tile from your rack in one turn; every set on the table must be legal when you go out.
• Runs — three or more consecutive numbers in a single color, like green 5-6-7.
• Groups — three or four tiles of the same number in different colors.
• Rearranging — tiles already on the table can be reshuffled into completely new sets; they just can never return to a rack.
• Jokers — a joker stands in for any tile.
• The opening — if you haven't melded yet, your first sets must come from your own rack and total 30+ points before you may touch the table.

Each tile that changes sets counts as one move; putting a tile back where it came from is free, and placed tiles sort themselves. When you're done, compare your move count against the solver's line — matching it is good, beating it is bragging rights.
